Cylindrical glass beads, two bands of18K yellow gold
"Living outside the City in New Mexico has enhanced my awareness of changing light, seasonal color and events in the night sky, especially those around the moon. This series honors my father, who, on occasion, painted celestial themes, including the sun and moon...Moon River is inspired by a reflecting moon and the animated light it creates on the surface of water." - Claire Kahn
In the clear darkness of night, Claire Kahn illustrates the magic of the moon as its glow traces the ebb and flow upon the surface of water. In a new pattern, the artist scripts the shimmer ofits phosphorescence in shades of gold and white as a reflection ofthe moon's body shimmers upon water's undulated ripples. Slowly, themaker re-introduces night as shebegins to imbue her progression with hints of black. Slowly its sable body envelopes the bright scene, until themoon's aqueous image is once again lost to twilight. Two rings in high karat gold portray ourresplendent figure, delightfully making its way through the piece as a pleasant orbit of lustrous luminosity. A soothing work to ever satiate the soul.
This piece is part of Claire Kahn's mini series,Moon River, where works of adornment embody the reflection of the moon upon the surface of water.
